The Dixie track meet on May seventh was intended to begin at 4:30 but due to inclement weather, it was pushed back 15 minutes. When it commenced there was no rain, it was in the upper 70s, and cloudy.
Highlands started with the triple jump performed by junior Shelby Shields who placed third. About 30 minutes into the meet, during the long jump—performed by Senior Laney Smith—the rain returned.
The meet ended up having a 30-minute lighting delay. The rain didn’t last that long and after a couple of minutes during the delay, it was sunny with the rain clouds fading. They carried on with the meet and it resulted in another successful meet, despite some sour weather.
The Birds next meet is on May 11th at Scott High School.
