The Highlands varsity tennis team has been dominating the competition with an almost undefeated record (8-1). The team practices five days a week at Tower Park in the beginning, then usually one practice and three matches when the season starts.
The team has been led by senior Eli Back, sophomore Jackson Bowman, senior Owen Lecky, sophomore Daniel Beasey, and junior Ryder Perme. The team is in the peak season with the regional tournament coming up. The team has high hopes moving forward.
Senior Owen Lecky said: “I feel like our team is doing good this season, with being almost undefeated.”
The team plays around three matches a week and have only lost one.
Senior Connor Wallace said: “I have not lost yet, so I would say I am doing very well.”
With a majority of the team being seniors, their high school season is coming to an end very soon with only about a month left for them.
Lecky said: “I am going to miss the matches the most.”
This is not the only thing that the seniors are going to miss.
Wallace said: “Just hanging around playing after practices with my friends.”
With the season in full swing in the next couple weeks, the team is looking strong and preparing for a great finish to the season in regions. And for some, a good finish of high school tennis.
