Highlands tied 1-1 with Notre Dame Academy on September 25, 2023.
In the first half, Notre Dame got an early lead of 1-0.
Highlands got down the field and held the ball near the goal for a bit, and then sophomore Franny Smith found an opening and slipped the ball in and past the goalie for Highlands’ first goal of the game.
After halftime, both teams were playing well both having multiple shots on goal but none going in.
One of the shots on goal was a 1-1 versus senior Claire Cavacini and the Notre Dame goalie. The goalie ran towards Cavacini messed up the shot and ended up losing control and not getting the goal.
During the game, there were multiple yellow cards handed out to both team’s players for pushing and shoving. There was one red card handed out to senior Ava Myer for throwing a ball at the opposing player.
After all of the beef and hard work, the game ended in a tie.
The Bird’s next game is away at Elizabethtown on September 27, 2023, at 8 p.m.
