Sophomore Max Merz blocks down on a Lexington Catholic defensive lineman. As a Sophomore Merz is a starter on the offensive line and said, “It felt amazing (to be a starter as a sophomore) that all my hard work has paid off.”
Friday, August 18th was the opening week of the Highlands Football regular season. The Bluebirds and the Knights of Lexington Catholic battled it out until the final snap. It was a back-and-forth game between the two teams. The birds encountered some intense competition in the first week of the season and hope that this will help them prepare the Birds for their upcoming contest against arch-rival Covington Catholic on Friday, August 25.
At the night’s end, the Bluebirds came out victorious over the Knights 34-27.
