On August 17th, the Highlands Boys Soccer team took on Holy Cross Indians at Tower Park. The Birds and the Indians went back and forth until Senior Tyler Whitney created momentum for the Birds with a goal. Junior Harrison Gamble scored two back-to-back goals to end the first half with the Birds in the lead 3-0.
Whitney kept the momentum and made the score 4-0, as well as Jack Haggard, scored and extended the Birds’ lead to 5-0. The Indians scored a goal which then made the score 5-1.
Junior Craig Miller scored at the end of the game, scoring his first varsity goal which ended the game with a score of 6-1. “
We worked really hard over the summer having early morning practices. Suli really turned our team into something special and I think we are seeing it now with the results we’ve been getting,” said Gamble.
The Birds’ next home game is Thursday, August 24 against Campbell County at 7:45 P.M.
