Birds take their swing: Boys varsity golf team places 9th in state

Senior Joel Craft talks about his state placement.

Last Tuesday and Wednesday,  the Highlands High School (HHS) boys’ golf team placed ninth in the KHSAA state tournament.

Senior Joel Craft tied for 42nd during state last week with a combined score of 157 shooting 75 on day one, and 82 on the second.

“I played solid the first day and couldn’t really get much going on the second day, not really how I wanted to finish.”

Highlands as a whole placed 9th in the state competition with 685 strokes with 339 strokes in round one and 346 strokes in round two.

The birds look forward to next year’s season as they hope for higher placement in the KHSAA state tournament.
