On Monday, February 8, Girls Basketball Coach Jaime Richey netted her 400th win as a head coach in a game against Bishop Bossart High School.

Richey added an accomplishment to her long list of them. Richey graduated from Highlands in 1996. In her varsity basketball career, she put up 4,948 points. She held the record for most points scored in a career until Whitney Creech broke her record in 2016.

Richey was named Parade Magazine National Player of the Year, Gatorade Circle of Champions, and Kentucky’s Miss Basketball in 1996 throughout her high school career. She continued to play basketball at the collegiate level at Western Kentucky University and was a standout college basketball player in her time.

“Winning 400 wins is really a credit to all my former players, current players, and all the assistant coaches that I have worked with. It’s all the players that have scored all the points for our program, made the defensive stops and believed in our program, and continued the tradition of excellence.”

Richey continued to be involved in basketball and has been the girl’s varsity basketball coach for 20 years now.
