Hoops for Hunger: 2,300 pounds of happiness
Last Tuesday, the annual ‘Hoops for Hunger’ raised 2,300 pounds of canned goods for the Henry Hosea House.
At 7:00 P.M., the boys and girls team held an inter-squad scrimmage. Both the boys and girls teams, of each level (Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) participated. In between the games, the cheer squads performed for the fans to pep them up.
“Hoops for Hunger is the community’s first chance to see the Boys & Girls Basketball teams in action and the basketball programs’ talent,” said Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach Jaime Richey.
Events alternated all throughout the night from basketball scrimmages and shootouts to the cheer team’s performances, to even jersey dress-up with participants from the audience.
“It was fun to show the community what we can do while also helping out the community and giving back to them,” said Freshmen Colin Utz.
