Highlands Bluebirds annihilate Campbell County Camels
This past Friday, September 3, the Highlands High School varsity football team blew out the Camels, scoring 42-7.
It was a return, as of years prior, the football program at Highlands has been less effective. It was exciting for the O-ZONE to watch Highlands control the game against such a formidable opponent, the way they did.
Highlands led the first quarter with three touchdowns.
The first touchdown was from Sophomore Brody Benke who ran the ball into the end zone. Along with this, the second touchdown was from Senior Jake Welch, who scored the touchdown on a punt return.
Highlands went into half 28-0.
Junior Center Adam Bowman stated that their goal was to put up 50, even though they fell short they put up a lot of points, scoring 47 in total.
Unfortunately during the 4th quarter, the camels finally scored.
Senior Jake Welch commented how he believes the game went.
“The game went great, we were firing on all cylinders and got the job done.”
The next varsity football game is this Friday, September 10 at 7 P.M. at the home turf against the Ryle Raiders.
