Volleyball team prepares to hit new heights during the 2021-2022 season
A season that’s filled with nothing but hype and victories for the Highlands High School 2021-2022 volleyball team. There is an excitement for the season to truly begin.
With an extensive roster of 35 players, the HHS volleyball team is preparing for what they hope to be an amazing season. The team’s record is currently 9-2.
Senior Cecilia Shick commented on her excitement over the new season.
“The new season is very exciting, and the preseason was very helpful to us. I am confident we will have a good season.”
After the spike of COVID-19 in 2020, the O-ZONE had left the stadium, but with the new season, came a new O-ZONE. The O-ZONE has returned.
Shick discussed her beliefs that the O-ZONE plays a key role in the team’s performance.
“Having the O-ZONE show up is very important. It fills all the players with energy to play hard.”
This season, the team has 25 games, including tournaments, and hopefully, Regionals. These three types of games will help keep the season active.
The two teams they are prepping for the most are Dixie and St. Henry. These teams were said to be the most challenging teams they will face this season.
With a strong bond between the players, there is nothing that the Birds plan on letting stand in their way.
Junior Carly Cramer divulged her sense of teamwork.
“I love my teammates. That’s probably the reason I stuck with volleyball as long as I have,”
The next volleyball game is tonight starting at 5:30 at home against Scott High School.
