Varsity basketball Bluebirds secure win against Bellevue Tigers
The boys varsity basketball team went up against Bellevue High School on Thursday, January 28 at 7:30 p.m. They were able to secure a huge win, bringing their record to five wins and three losses.
The Birds started out strong against the Tigers, ending the first quarter with 34 points to Bellevue’s six. Seniors Sam Vinson and Bryson Cody were among the star players of this quarter, scoring many of the team’s baskets.
The Birds drew multiple fouls throughout the first quarter and continued to as the half continued. By the end of the first half, the score was 59-18, Highlands.
As the second half began, the Birds, with a solid lead, had high spirits. Throughout the third and fourth quarters, the Birds kept this lead. The score at the end of the third quarter was 82-32 and the final score was 104-42, Highlands.
The varsity boys’ next home game will be on January 30 at 7:30 p.m. against Newport Central Catholic High School.
