Varsity volleyball ends season in loss against Cooper at Regionals
This Tuesday, October 27, the girls varsity volleyball team played against Cooper High School for their regional game.
The Cooper Jaguars and the Highlands Bluebirds were neck and neck during the first set, each point deservingly earned from both sides. The Birds played well on defense and didn’t let the ball drop. This teamwork resulted in a score of 25-22, giving the Ladybirds a win.
Junior CC Schick performed well, boosting her teams’ kill and spike points substantially.
The girls fell back with 23-25 during the second game, pushing their way through. The Ladybirds gave full effort until the end, but fell a few points short.
During the last two sets of the game, the Birds kept fighting but couldn’t come out on top. The score was close for a while, but the Colonels got a good run, making it hard for the Birds to catch up.
“In the third and fourth sets, we weren’t being as aggressive on defense or offense,” senior Laura Winkler admits.
The girls ended in defeat with a final score of 14-25, having a total of 3-1 loss in sets. Considering all of the global conflicts occurring this year, the Ladybirds have been grateful to enjoy a season such as this, filled with a bunch of team spirit, energy, and determination.
