On Sept. 3, 2025, Wednesday season two, part two was officially released on Netflix. It quickly became trending on social media, even reaching the number four spot in the top ten most watched TV shows on Netflix for the week. Students at Highlands have varying opinions on the new season.
“Unpopular opinion, but I enjoyed season one more than season two,” Piper Lang (10) said.
The basic summary of season two part one of Wednesday is that a stalker targets Wednesday Addams as she investigates a series of murders connected to a secret program (LOIS) at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital, which leads to the revelation that Augustus Stonehurst runs the program. His daughter Judy is revealed to be in control of the crows which are involved in the killings. Wednesday uses her new psychic powers to uncover the plot. Leading into part two, Wednesday faces a vision of the future which reveals her best friend, Enid Sinclair’s, death.
There were also various side quests throughout part one, including one surrounding a resurrected zombie. In this, Pugsley Addams resurrects a corpse he names Slurp. This is central to the plot of the season, as it is later revealed that Slurp’s true identity is Isaac Night, an old friend and enemy of the Addams family with a secret connection to Nevermore.
“I enjoyed the zombie side quest the most from part one. I love the buildup we get for its later importance,” Lang said.
Students have pretty similar opinions on whether or not season two is better than season one.
Most students believe season two is significantly better than season one; one argument made includes the fact that the writing for season two felt easier to understand than season one. These individuals think that plot lines are supposed to be clear and consistent; in their opinion season two does a better job of this than season one.
“I enjoyed season one more than season two. It was simpler, and I love the feeling of getting to know characters for the first time,” Lang said.
Another argument made from students was the fact that season two had a handful of new characters and a finer plot than season one.
“I like season two better because we got to meet new characters and there was more of a mystery plot,” Lilly Ahfeld (10) said.
On the topic of characters, students agree that, in general, season two had better character writing than in season one. In season two, we see character development from a multitude of different characters, including Enid and Wednesday.
“I really enjoyed seeing how the characters developed in season two, especially Wednesday,” Ahfeld said.
Another viewpoint on the character writing/development is one surrounding Wednesday and her struggle with her newfound powers. Students feel more connected to Wednesday after watching her have trouble coming to terms with her powers.
“In the first season, we didn’t get to see Wednesday struggle with her power, but in season two, we did, and it kind of showed how she is just a normal teenager at the end of the day,” Ahfeld said.
Just before they premiered season two, Netflix officially renewed Wednesday for season three. This was partly due to the fact that Wednesday holds the record for Netflix’s most-watched English-language show of all time. Fans cannot wait for this new release and are thrilled to see how the show’s plot is continued after being left on a cliffhanger.
“The new episodes and cliffhanger have got me very excited for season three, I can’t wait to watch it,” Lang said.
