Girls’ varsity soccer team wins region semi-final game

Last night, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team won the 9th region semi-final game. The team played against Ryle High School scoring 2-0, despite multiple team members having or recovering from injuries such as sophomores Jasmine Rehberger and Greta Noble.

For the first half of the game, the score stayed at a standstill at 0-0, but during the second half, Sophomore McKenzie Nehus scored first and then Junior Jordan Halpin scored with an assist from Senior Lindsey Meyer.

Junior Maria Broering said, “The first half was a little bit rough; we were dominating possession and had a few opportunities, but we were disappointed to not score in the first 40 minutes. We definitely stepped it up in the second half and Kenzie and Jordan put two great goals in the back of the net.”

The team’s next game is tonight at 7 pm and will be played against Notre Dame High School at Ryle High School.

Senior on the team, Hannah Bueker, said, “I think if we show up with high energy and have good communication we can have a great game.”
