TikTok is a very popular social media app that includes videos for all audiences and has a new feature that includes a shop that is part of the app.
TikTok shop is an online shopping outlet that is a part of the very popular app, Tiktok. Many students have ordered from this website and have mixed feelings about how reliable it is, the quality of the products, and the general idea of having a popular shop on a popular app that raises suspicion already.
“It’s a part of the TikTok website where you can buy different gadgets and items,” Lauren Battle (10) said.
Since the TikTok shop raised suspicion, some of the products didn’t turn out the way people wanted, raising the suspicion even more.
“I got a T-shirt and the quality was not very good and it was overall not what it seemed like,” Grace Burnett (11) said.
“I haven’t ordered that many things on the TikTok shop so I can’t really say, but I do believe there are scams on TikTok shop, like false size,” Katrina Carrier (12) said.
The shop offers a wide variety of items at very low prices. Amazon is a similar platform due to its low prices and variety.
“I’ve bought a beach waver dupe and a really good digital camera,” Lexington Zins (11) said.
Some students have bought clothing from the shop for specific events.
“I ordered a dress to wear as a wedding guest,” Evelyn Hopping (12) said.
Other students buy things that might seem like a weird idea, but end up being something that can be used.
“I ordered a Bluetooth Lollipop. It worked, which was funny, but to think that it actually worked, I thought I was hallucinating,” Carrier said.
Even though the TikTok shop raises suspicion about the reliability of the website itself, the products, etc. Many people still order from the shop to get cheaper items.
