As the federal government is pounded by layoffs, Russia and China leapt at the chance of grasping trained U.S workers now out of jobs. Many of these employees not only with the capabilities but also with the top secret U.S knowledge and privileges.
“Russia and China are focusing their efforts on recently fired employees with security clearances and probationary employees at risk of being terminated, who may have valuable information about US critical infrastructure and vital government bureaucracy…” CNN said.
These countries, especially China who has been the most involved party in U.S affairs over the last couple of years, deny the accusation of their exploitation.
“China has always been committed to developing relations with the United States on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs,” Chinese embassy spokesperson Liu Pengyu said.
He continued by saying that his country opposes the “groundless speculation on China without factual basis.”
But it cannot be denied that many are fed up and willing to do what they must to find work.
“Employees that feel they have been mistreated by an employer have historically been much more likely to disclose sensitive information,”Holden Triplett, who served as director of counterintelligence at the National Security Council in the first Trump administration said.
According to New York’s “ThePurge” Magazine, 30,000 federal workers have been given notice since Elon Musk’s DOGE began its work in January. As well as 4,200 probationary employees said they were terminated.
With numbers continuing to grow and more stringent employee policies being implemented, Americans may be forced to work elsewhere, possibly overseas.
