The pop of the cap, the dripping of a water fountain, the coldness of a glass in your hand. Many people already drink plenty of water. However, a part of society also thinks drinking water is unnecessary.
Many individuals ask the same question, “Why drink so much water?” And the answer is, why not?
Drinking water has many benefits, and it’s recommended by the Mayo Clinic that the regular person should drink eleven glasses of water a day.
“It helps all your body systems out, the digestive systems, your cardiovascular system. All your central nervous system,” health teacher Kyle Frinfrock said.
Hydration can do wonders for many parts of the body, and not drinking enough water can also have significant consequences.
“You’re going to feel tired, and you’re going to have headaches,” Frinfrock said.
Being tired and having headaches can also affect the ability to be a good student in school.
A good student listens carefully and remains attentive to the teacher, but dehydration can hinder focus and make it more difficult to stay engaged.
“When you’re dehydrated, the brain isn’t going to function as well, so you’re going to lose the ability to focus as well as some other things,” Frinfrock said.
Staying hydrated is crucial for maintaining cognitive function and overall physical health. Simple habits like drinking enough water throughout the day can significantly improve concentration, energy levels, and mood.
“Whenever I don’t drink water, I’m always in a really bad mood, so I’d say water is really important,” Isabella McIntire (9) said.
Drinking water is a reminder of how such small things can have a lasting effect on people. When something has so many benefits to it, why not do it?
