Starting on September 2, Highlands High School will be hosting its annual Club Day. In the past, representatives from each club would set up tables for two days to advertise what they’re a part of.
However, this year clubs will give presentations before or after school.
The purpose of this is to give students the option of exploring different clubs and activities before signing up. This is a great way to recruit new members and give students the chance to be involved in activities outside of school.
There are a variety of extracurriculars to choose from at Highlands such as, the National English Honors Society, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), German Club, Envirothon, Green Club, and Model UN.
Izzy Brown (10) recommended students visit art teacher, Andrew Eckerle, this year about joining the bowling team.
“It’s really fun and you get to be active in a way that isn’t stressful. You also get to hang out with your friends.”
This is especially an exciting day for the freshmen.
They will have the opportunity to visit various classrooms to help ease their transition into high school.
Wyatt Anderson (9) said, “I’m looking forward to learning about the video game club because it seems like a fun and laid-back activity.”
If a student goes into Club Day unsure what club they are interested in, there will be much more time to learn about each club with the meetings being spread out throughout the week.
Here is the Club Day schedule for this week:
