Birds by the beach: Prom 2024

Music on, surrounded by fish, decorations up, it’s that time of the year to get your fun on.

Prom 2024 had changes prior to 2023 prom. This year, it was located at the Newport Aquarium, where last year it was held at Northern Kentucky University. Juniors and Seniors were excited about the change of location, especially seniors since it was their last school dance.

Senior Katy Fisher stated her opinion on prom: “I was super excited about the switch to the aquarium. I was looking forward to seeing the different underwater creatures, I had a blast exploring.”

The theme of prom was Birds By the Beach. At the Aquarium, students were allowed to go around the exhibits and galleries.

Junior Ella Dixon stated: “My favorite part of having prom at the aquarium was seeing the shark tank where you were able to touch them.”

Weeks before the dance students had the chance to vote for their prom king and queen. There were six junior girls, Chelsea Crisler, Ella Cunningham, Adelaide Foley, Lucy Henry, Ellie Mohr, and Emme Orme and six Junior boys, Sam Arnold, Torin Bryant, Carson Vieth, Jack White, Ashton Willis, and Owen Yelton.

Junior Ellie Mohr stated “It felt exciting and rewarding to have the opportunity to run for prom queen and to feel that support from my peers!”

During the dance they announced that juniors Torin Bryant and Lucy Henry had won king and queen.

Junior Torin Bryant stated: “It was a fun experience, I didn’t think that I was gonna win.”

After the nominations went out, students continued to dance away until prom ended.

Prom to Dawn was up next for students. The theme was Hollywood and was located at Highlands High School. There were activities all around the school including, a Spin 360 photo booth, a gaga pit, gambling, a Tarot Card Reader, and so much more.

Prom To Dawn also included a variety of catered restaurant food such as Skyline, Buffalo Wild Wings, Rio Grande, and so much more.

Prom to Dawn lasted from 11 till 2 in the morning.

Teachers and volunteers worked hard to put this all together and make it special for our juniors and seniors.
