Måneskin is an Italian pop rock band from Rome. It consists of lead vocalist Damiano David, bassist Victoria De Angelis, guitarist Thomas Raggi, and drummer Ethan Torchio. The band members first met each other as students of the same middle school. In 2016, while they were students of the liceo scientifico J.F. Kennedy in Monteverde, Rome, they decided to start a band.

The band’s name “Måneskin” was chosen when they had to register for Pulse, a local music contest for bands. While brainstorming, Victoria, who is of Danish descent, was asked by her bandmates to toss out some Danish words, and they agreed on Måneskin, which means moonshine, despite its meaning not related to the band itself. The Pulse Contest also marked a turning point in their career, since they had to start writing their own songs. They began to participate in lots of contests in Italy and became popular.

Måneskin competed on the Italian version of X factor in the 11th season in 2017. They got second place, back then the lead singer Damiano David was 18 and all the other members were underage. Among the performances there is also the famous song  “Kiss This”.

The discography of Italian rock band Måneskin consists of three studio albums, an extended play and fourteen singles. They have topped the Italian music charts on five occasions (with two singles and its three studio albums), and collected 34 platinum and seven gold certifications from FIMI, selling over two million records in Italy alone. Il ballo della vita (“The dance of life”), was posted on October 26th 2018, Teatro d’ira: Vol. I (“theater of wrath”) – March 19th 2021, and Rush! – January 20th 2023.

Måneskin became famous all over the world straight after their victory in the European contest “Eurovision 2021”. The Eurovision Song Contest is an internationally televised songwriting competition, organized by the European Broadcasting Union and featuring participants chosen by EBU member broadcasters representing their countries from across Europe and beyond. It is usually held around May. Måneskin took first place at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with “Zitti e buoni“, their releases entered numerous European and global weekly charts, and subsequently collected multiple international recording certifications. Among those certifications, “I Wanna Be Your Slave,” and their cover of “Beggin’” were certified platinum by the BPI, and the former was also certified platinum and the latter triple platinum by the RIAA, totaling sales of over five million copies internationally.

After this successful year Måneskin did several world tours, which collected sold outs at the biggest stadiums in the globe. The band is currently on the tour, however, they announced a new world tour “Rush!” because of their new album in March 2023 that will begin in September of the same year. Måneskin will visit North America, South America, Japan, Europe, UK, Ireland, and it is gonna be their first ever headline tour of Australia.
