Movie Releases of 2019

IT: Chapter 2

Chapter 2, directed by Andrés Muschietti, is coming to theaters September 6th, 2019. The movie, taking place 27 years after the first one, features an all new cast, though Bill Skarsgård will be returning as Pennywise. After the Losers Club has grown up and moved away from Denny, they are forced to revisit after a reappearance from Pennywise threatens the peace. Information has not yet been released concerning whether or not the movie will be rated R.

 

Pet Sematary

Based on the book by the same name by Stephen King, Pet Sematary will be directed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer. The movie is about a family that moves from Boston to rural Maine, where they discover a burial ground. After several tragic events occur, the couple turns to their neighbor for help, setting in motion a chain of events that lead to severe consequences. The movie will be released April 5th, 2019.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

Due to be released in 2019, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will take the watchers through the crimes of Ted Bundy, played by Zac Efron, as told from the perspective of his girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer, played by Lily Collins. Ted Bundy was a serial killer, kidnapper, rapist, thief, and necrophile that had over 30 victims in the 1970s. The movie, directed by Joe Berlinger, was filmed in various locations throughout Kentucky and Ohio including Fort Thomas, Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law in Highland Heights and the U.S. Post Office in Covington. The movie will run at roughly 108 minutes.

 

Pokemon Detective Pikachu

Ryan Reynolds brings to life the character Pikachu in a new live-action movie directed by Rob Letterman. The movie is about a young man that joins forces with Detective Pikachu to solve the mystery of his missing father. However, exploring the streets of Rhyme City, the pair will find that there is a bigger threat on the horizon, one that could destroy the Pokémon universe.

Spies in Disguise

Spies in Disguise, a comedy movie set to be released September 2019, centers around spy Lance Williams and inventor Walter Beckett. The two couldn’t be more different than each other, though they will both be forced to rely on one another after Lance gets turned into a pigeon. The film, directed by Nick Bruno and Troy Quane, includes a cast of Tom Holland, Will Smith, Karen Gillan, DJ Khaled, and Rashida Jones. The move is predicted to be a cool one.

Dumbo

Eva Green plays Colette, Colin Farrell plays Holt, and Danny DeVito plays Medici. Directed by Tim Burton, the movie, a remake of the cartoon by the same name, is about the owner of a struggling circus that asks a young boy and girl to care for a flying elephant named Dumbo.

Avengers 4: Endgame

After the hit release of Avengers Infinity War directed by Anthony & Joe Russo, next is Avengers 4: Endgame this April 26th, starring many returning cast members some of who are Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Holland. Following the Events of Avengers: Infinity War The Avengers must once again save the universe from Thano’s Clutches in Avengers 4: Endgame.

Captain Marvel

The next hero from the MCU to get their own standalone movie is Captain Marvel, who is played by Brie Larson. This film is set to be released in theaters March 7th, which is directed by Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck. This is Captain Marvel’s first on-screen debut where she becomes one of the MCU’s most powerful heroes.

Spider-Man: Far from home

Following the 2017 release of Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland as the new Peter Parker. Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker in the upcoming July 5th release of Spider-Man: Far From Home, directed by Jon Watts. During Peter’s summer vacation, he and his friends take a trip to Europe, that takes a nasty twist as he must defend his friends from the Villain Mysterio.

John Wick 3: Parabellum

After the events of John Wick: Chapters 1 & 2, Keanu Reeves once more returns as John Wick in John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum, directed by Chad Stahelski and is set to release on May 17th. After John’s excommunication from the Continental’s grounds and services, he must flee New York city with a 14-million-dollar bounty on his head.

 

Lion King

James Earl Jones will star as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, John Oliver as Zazu, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Beyoncé as Nala, John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. The Disney Live Action movie will be directed by Jon Favreau’s, and the movie will follow, Simba, a lion cub who looks up to his father, King Mufasa. However, Scar, Mufasa’s brother and former heir to the throne, is not happy with the birth of the new king, and schemes to get Simba’s exiled. With help from several friends, Simba will have to grow up and take back his kingdom.

Secret Life of Pets 2

Directed by Chris Renaud, and set to be released June 7th, 2019, The Secret Life of Pets 2, the sequel to the Secret Life of Pets, will follow the life the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school. The movie will feature a new character, a Shih Tzu named Daisy, voiced by Tiffany Haddish. Kevin Hart, Harrison Ford, Jenny Slate, and Patton Oswalt will also play roles in the movie.
