Enjoy!

  1. Fictorious (adjective)- a word to describe someone when they answer a question correctly that they truly had no idea of the answer

I didn’t really know how to do diagram a sentence, but when I was called on, I diagrammed correctly and emerged fictorious.

False (not according with truth or fact) + Victorious (having won a victory; triumphant) = Fictorious

  1. Theal (noun)- a person who takes the last of an item that you wanted in the cafeteria, and you either have to wait for more or choose a new option

That grimy little theal took the last homemade calzone, and then I had to eat a burger instead.

Thief (a person who steals another person’s property) + Meal (any of the regular occasions in a day when a reasonably large amount of food is eaten) = Theal

Fun Fact: Theal also rhymes with steal, which is neat, as a theal steals the last meal. (Try saying that 10 times fast!)

  1. Icktion (noun)- any task performed in a class that is tedious and widely disliked, though important for the class

Making bibliographies for research papers is my friend’s least favorite icktion.

Ick (a sound someone may make to express a negative feeling towards an action or object) + Action (the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim) = Icktion

  1. Subnounce (verb)- the act of a substitute teacher messing up a classroom full of names

Since my teacher was sick, I had to listen to the substitute teacher subnounce many names of people in my class.

Substitute (a person or thing acting or serving in place of another) + Pronunciation (the way in which a word is pronounced) = Subnounce

  1. Bothersound (noun)- any annoying beep, buzz, hum or other sound that disrupts the peace in a classroom

I couldn’t focus in my math class because of the bothersound coming from the heater.

Bothersome (causing bother; troublesome) + Sound (vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person’s or animal’s ear) =Bothersound

If you’re enjoying the Highxicon, try adding some words of your own!  All you need to do is comment below definition, part of speech, and where the word came from. No word is too weird, so give it a try.
