On October 14, 2025, Highlands had its first band concert of the year, the Highlands fall band s
pooktacular. This concert was a combination of the high school and middle school bands, opening with the high school sections, then taking an intermission before introducing the middle school sections. The Highlands marching band opened the concert with their pieces,” Joy”, “1,000 Years”, and “Choose Joy”. The theme for the current marching band season is joy, and so during the concert, they amazed the audience with their reenactment of what it means to spread joy through music. Once the high school band sections were coming to a close, Lori Ducan came to the stage and announced that John Darnell would be recognized for his excellence in teaching and being a supportive role for not only the Highlands band but all the musical departments offered at Highlands. The middle school bands then took the stage to play fall music and create a fall atmosphere amongst the crowd. Finally ending the concert off again with the High schoolers was the Highlands High School symphonic band to play “Of Monsters and Men”, “Coffin Races”, and Highlights from Wicked. The audience was absolutely blown away by the amazing performance done by the band and awarded all of the instrumentalists with loud applause and support.
