Summer is coming around the corner sooner than expected. Most people stay home because of sports or because they do not have plans. However, there are plenty of things to do with friends and family.
On May 19, there is the Sam Scott Celebration of Life Slow Ride. It will start at 1:30 PM. The ride will begin at The Post (Taps & Bottle Shop) and head to First Baptist Church before making its way back to The Post. The Post will be offering specials for adults and kids afterwards.
“We have a whole bunch of different events, and we approach them all differently because their needs are all different,” Event coordinator Chanda Calentine said.
There will be many events in June. On the 2nd, the city is hosting Fleas in the Fort at 10 AM in the Mess Hall, and on the 5th, it is movie night at 7:30 PM at the amphitheater.
On the 13th, the Northern Kentucky (NKY) Legends Hall of Fame at 6 PM at the Mess Hall. On the 15th is the city-wide yard sale.
For the 27th, there is a concert in the park with Ma Crow & Co. at 7:30 PM at the amphitheater. It is free entry.
July might be the most eventful month for Fort Thomas because the weather is nice, and most people are in town. On the 2nd, the city is having an Americana house decorating contest at 4 PM. The Fort Thomas Americana decorating contest has specific rules. Participants must register by July 1st and all decorations must be up by 9 AM on July 4th. The judging will occur from 9-10 AM.
The decorating must revolve around celebrating American themes and patriotism through decorating.
On the 4th, there are many exciting events for the 4th of July. At 8:00 AM, start the day with the Firecracker 5K. At 10:30 AM, there is the annual Fort Thomas 4th of July parade. At 6:00 PM, head to the park for an evening of fun with the Sly Band, food trucks, and family-friendly activities. 10:00 PM is when the fireworks will occur in the park.
“Kids can do everything from running in the morning to participating in the parade in the afternoon and coming out and hearing music,” Calentine said
Overall, Fort Thomas has a number of activities planned for this summer, so even if you’re staying in town, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and have fun over the break.
