Fort Thomas has many ways to get involved within the community, such as volunteer work, planning events, and supporting different local causes. As someone who has lived in Fort Thomas their whole life, I have gotten to experience different opportunities to give back to my community.
In the city of Fort Thomas, there are many events that happen throughout the year, such as the annual Fourth of July parade, Art in the Park, and the Holiday Walk. The city sets up these events in an attempt to bring the people of Fort Thomas together, so providing services for setting up or taking down can help bring you closer to the community that provides for you.
Along with giving back to your community, it can also be a self-fulfilling activity that brings you closer to others. Getting involved with my community has been a good way to meet new people and form new relationships.
Getting involved in your community can also provide good opportunities to get service hours for school or outside commitments. Serving for just a couple of hours can go a long way when you are looking for ways to get credit for your hours. Last year, I ran a booth at Woodfill Elementary School’s Big Top and gained three hours toward my service hour credits. Getting involved in my community was very easy, and it even came with benefits for school.
Along with the benefits of completing community service, most of the time, colleges look at different extracurricular activities as community service. It is a good idea to get involved because it shows potential colleges and programs that you are invested in making a change.
Community service has been a good way for me to get involved in my hometown,and experience different opportunities that will help later in life. Fort Thomas has various experiences for students to explore. Different acts of service can provide for the community, and it can be very fulfilling when you get to make a difference.
