“Social media has been really our only form of marketing from the beginning, that and word of mouth. We wanted to serve people so well here that they were so proud of their community coffee shop that they just had to tell everybody about it. And then people that would happen to visit, that they would just fall in love with us,” Fort Thomas Coffee owner, Christine Smalley, said.
They use social media to promote their business by posting pictures of their products and inventory that they have for sale. This leads to many students and people in the community going to the store to try their products.
“There have been a lot of times I have seen products on my social media feed and was intrigued to go to that business and check it out,” Henry Hosea (9) said.
The apps that Fort Thomas Coffee uses are Instagram and Facebook to promote their business. These platforms are very good for attracting customers and getting their products out to the public.
“We use Instagram and Facebook. Those are the only two,” Smalley said.
The owners of Fort Thomas Coffee have also observed trends and benefits from these accounts and have made a lot of profit and attention from them.
“The example I just gave about the latte take flight product we had, people getting really excited about stuff like that. But I don’t know if I have a good comparison of somebody that’s comparable to us that’s not using social media. I think most folks in the restaurant world, at least around here, are using it to my knowledge to benefit from it,” Smalley said.
So, with the rise of social media, Fort Thomas Coffee is quickly hopping on the trends with the media. These platforms have become their main tools for marketing and engaging with customers by keeping up with trending content and having daily uploads. They are really benefiting strongly from social media, and with no doubt, continue to do so in the future.
