2023 Grammy Awards: This year’s winners
The 65th Grammy Awards were held in Los Angeles on February 5, 2023. The host of this year’s Grammys was Trevor Noah. Many different awards are given out each year. 91 awards were given out this year.
The band Wet Leg won 2 awards this year. ‘Alternative Music Album’ and ‘Alternative Music Performance’ were won by the group. This year’s award ceremony was the first that the band attended and they were able to do very well.
Harry Styles won 2 awards this year for his album ‘Harry’s House’ which came out in May of 2022. He won ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’. This brought him up to 3 Grammys in his solo career.
‘Producer of the Year, Non-classical’ was given to Jack Antonoff. Antonoff has worked with artists such as The 1975, Taylor Swift, The Chicks, and Clairo. For ‘Producer of the Year, Classical’ the Grammy was given to Judith Sherman. This is her 7th time winning this award.
Willie Nelson won the ‘Best Country Album’ award with his most recent album ‘A Beautiful Time’, which came out in 2022. He also won the award for ‘Best Country Solo Performance’ with his song named ‘Live Forever’ off the album.
‘Gemini Rights’ by Steve Lacy was given the award for ‘Best Progressive R&B Album’ this year. ‘Best R&B Album’ was won by Robert Glasper for the album ‘Black Radio III.’
For rock, the ‘Best Rock Album’ was given to Ozzy Osbourne for the September album ‘Patient Number 9’. ‘Broken Horses’ which is performed by Brandi Carlile, Phil Hanseroth, and Tim Hanseroth won the award for ‘Best Rock Song’ and ‘Best Rock Performance’.
Many different artists performed at the Grammys this year. Artists like Harry Styles, Bad Bunny, Sam Smith with Kim Petras, and Chris Stapleton all took the stage to entertain this year.
