Students begin scheduling for 2023-2024 school year
Senior year scheduling is a very stressful time for juniors. This year HHS is trying to make the process of scheduling classes less nerve-racking for their bluebirds.
A big struggle many students face while scheduling is deciding what level of classes they want to take such as advanced and AP classes. Guidance Counselor Ann Listerman speaks on yearly struggles she sees in students, “Typically students want to go into advanced level courses and then freak out in the summer.”
“And that gets hard and frustrating because we schedule our master schedule around what you guys request so it can be pretty hard.”
Infinite Campus – Master schedule is a program used by HHS, allowing students to choose which classes they want to take and which level, giving them more freedom. There will be a list explaining each class and the class options HHS provides for its students. HHS is introducing a new feature for scheduling next year.
Listerman said, “So we are going to do something different this year, all the counselors will be meeting one on one with our caseload, we’re going to pull you out of class and sit down with you, we will go through and make sure we have everything incorrectly.”
Many students in the past struggled with understanding the course description and curriculum. Senior Caleb Lindsey addresses this struggle, he said, “I wish there were more descriptions of what each course was and what it was like.”
Listerman clarifies,
“Students can go online at our counseling website, there is a course catalog. The newest catalog for next year is in its final reading because it has to be approved and things like that. And actually, Mrs. Thomas is going to be putting/compiling a class list for all the classes that will be offered so that you guys have that to look at when you’re scheduling.”
Also on the counseling website and look at the course list in advance to complete your final schedule. Each student this year will meet with their guidance counselor to discuss their schedule for next year.

Counselors will meet with Juniors through the 27th of January to discuss forms. The sheets will be finalized and will be due on the first of February.
