The passing of the crown: Queen Elizabeth II

On September 8, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II of England passed away in her sleep. She passed away unexpectedly at the age of 96 years old.

She inherited the throne at the age of 25 years old. Queen Elizabeth II reigned for 70 years. She was given power by her father, King George VI.

King Charles III is now taking the throne after the passing of his mother.

The procession of Queen Elizabeth II took place on September 13, 2022. Her coffin was moved to Westminster Hall the following day.

6 days later, the state funeral took place in Windsor. Her coffin will be transferred to its final resting place in central London.

During the funeral, many citizens of England attended and mourned her death. 

The queen’s monarchy had a quick start when she took the throne. Taking on her father’s legacy at a young age brought on a lot of questions from the citizens of England. They were afraid she would not be able to handle the responsibility of the power she possessed

Queen Elizabeth II was a hardworking woman. She did a lot for her people, family, and self.

At just 18 years old, the Queen enlisted into the Women’s Auxiliary Territory Service, also known as ATC. There, she trained for 6 weeks as an auto mechanic. 

The Queen was regnant of 32 sovereign states during her lifetime. At the time of her death, she was queen regnant of 15 states.

Queen Elizabeth II had many accomplishments and supporters. The sadness in England has brought people together as a whole to support the royal family. 

This death is not going unnoticed by anyone. This death has made the royal family come together as well. They are supporting each other as King Charles III moves up to the throne.

The passing of Charles’ mother has really sat with him. 

In an official statement written by King Charles III, he says, “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother.”
