Sweetness in Fort Thomas: Trying out popular desserts
We’re back! Now we are trying desserts around Fort Thomas. The three places we tried were Starbucks, Fort Thomas Coffee, and Greaters.
The first place we went was Starbucks. Starbucks started in 1970 and their first item was the original coffee beans and tea. The most ordered dessert was the birthday cake pop.
The “Birthday cake” cake pop came out in 2011.
Mollie: “I think the cake pop is 7.5/10. The flavor was good but was a little too sweet for me. I liked the texture of the cake and how it wasn’t too soggy or too cooked.”
Emersyn: “I think the cake pop was okay. I didn’t like the chocolate on top. It tasted kinda weird but overall I give it a 7/10.”
Haley: “I think that the birthday cake cake pop was good. It was really sweet, and you have to be in the mood for it. It might just be because this is the last place we went but I thought it was ok. It wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever had. I would give it a 7/10.”
Maddie: “I think that the birthday cake pop was very good and had the perfect amount of cake and icing. It was very sweet and I think that one cake pop was just enough. I give this a 9/10.”
The second place we went was Fort Thomas Coffee. Fort Thomas Coffee started in 2011 and just celebrated their 10 year anniversary. Their most ordered dessert was the iconic black and white cookie.
Mollie: “This cookie just wasn’t for me. I would definitely rate this a 2/10. It tasted almost exactly like a raisin and I don’t prefer the cakey cookie texture either, I did like the look of the cookie and the cookie was pretty big too.”
Emersyn: “I didn’t like this cookie at all. It smelled really bad and it isn’t like a cookie it’s a cake. The taste didn’t taste good at all. I would rate this cookie a 1/10. I think it looks appealing but the taste is not good.”
Haley: “I didn’t like this cookie. The icing on it was not very flavorful and it didn’t taste like much. The actual cookie was ok. I would give this a 2/10.”
Maddie: “I did not like this cookie at all. it had no flavor and the texture of the cookie was a little off. I also feel like it didn’t have a lot of icing. This cookie was not for me. I give this a 2/10.”
The last place we went to was Greaters, which started in 1950 and was created by Marlon Brando and James Dean. Their most ordered dessert was their black raspberry chip ice cream.
Mollie: “I thought the flavor of the ice cream was really good. It wasn’t too sweet and left me wanting more. I would rate this an 8/10. I also liked the chocolate chips and the color.”
Emersyn: “I really liked this flavor. It was really good and I would definitely get it again. It had chocolate chips in it and I feel like it makes it better. I would give this a 10/10.”
Haley: “I really liked this ice cream but I think it had a weird aftertaste. I liked the raspberry flavor and the chocolate wasn’t too overpowering. I would give this an 8/10.
Maddie: “I really like the black raspberry chip ice cream because the flavor is strong and it has a lot of chocolate chips which I like. I could eat at least two scoops of this ice cream and not get tired of it.”
