Spirit Week rapidly approaches: 9/27 – 10/1
With homecoming on Saturday, October 2, Spirit Week is coming up quickly. Spirit Week is one of Highlands High School’s events that allow students to show their support towards the school and the Fort Thomas community.
Taking place this upcoming week, students can dress up accordingly to the schedule the school gave out.
Monday is PJ Day, Tuesday is bikers (juniors and seniors) v.s. surfers (freshmen and sophomores), Wednesday is country, Thursday is decades (seniors are 90’s, juniors are 80’s, sophomores are 70’s, and freshmen are 60’s; teachers have a choice), and Friday is blue out or Highlands spirit wear.
Not only do students get to wear fun, themed outfits, but the Penny Wars will be taking place.
The Penny Wars occur during lunch on Spirit Week. Each class will have a jug in the cafeteria that can be filled with cash, silver coins, or pennies. The goal of the game is to have the most money raised. Silver coins and cash decrease the amount, while pennies increase it. Classes will add pennies to their jug, and add silver and cash to the other jugs.
By the end of the week, the class who participated the most during Spirit Week will be awarded the Spirit Stick during the Pep Rally on Friday. Next week is sure to be a very exciting experience for staff and students.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Highlands High School. Your contribution will allow us to cover our annual website hosting costs.
