Christmas specials appear on Disney+
Now that Christmas is less than a month away, Disney+ is putting out Christmas specials, known and loved by all. Some are new while others have been out for a while. Classics like the Home Alone trilogy help to forget how bad this year has been, even if just for a couple of hours. This year, there are a few must-watch Christmas specials to sit down and enjoy in front of the crackling fire, hot chocolate in hand.
Recently, a new Lego Star Wars special has been released on Disney+ called The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special, which takes some of the elements from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special and includes characters from all nine movies in the Star Wars saga. Another new Christmas movie that was just released on the streaming platform is The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, based on the classic fairy tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann. Noelle is another movie based around Christmas where a classic tradition changes. If you can’t get the Frozen movies out of your mind, you will love Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, a short film based in the Frozen world.
Alongside the new releases, Disney+ will have many of the classics, like various Christmas trilogies. Three-part sagas always spark Christmas spirit, so The Home Alone and Santa Clause trilogies have become well known during the holiday season, especially for their abundance of comedy. One classic that has been released on Disney+ is one that your grandparents may remember: Miracle on 34th Street. If you love Halloween and Christmas equally, check out Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, a story that is both spooky and merry. For a Disney twist on a classic tale, check out Mickey’s Christmas Carol, based on the original story by Charles Dickens.
For those who aren’t into movies, there are other things to watch. One example is Decorating Disney: Holiday Magic, a peek into how Disney World and Disneyland get ready for the holidays. There are also Christmas related television show episodes such as The Simpsons, which has seventeen-holiday related episodes. If you need a good laugh, check out the eight Christmas themed episodes of America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Now that it is December, it is a great time to watch a good old Christmas movie or a Christmas related episode of one of your favorite television shows. Whether you are into animated movies, live-action movies, or television shows, you will find plenty of holiday-themed entertainment to watch. So sit back, grab a blanket, a cup of hot chocolate, a furry friend, and find a movie to watch as the weather keeps getting colder.
