This week, the much-anticipated reunion of the reality dance competition show, Dance Moms, premiered on Lifetime. You may recognize the show titled Dance Moms that ran on Lifetime starting in 2011.
In the years that Abby Lee Miller taught dance, she had a very specific “look” for her dancers. Some include aesthetics and winning. This caused rivalries between girls and moms alike participating in the show as well as competition.
One of the most recognizable details from the show is the pyramid. Each week, the girls were ranked based on how well they performed at each competition. Maddie was Abby’s favorite and was more on top of the pyramid than any girl. She used her as an example throughout the whole show.
However, in 2019, Dance Moms stopped due to Abby Lee Miller, owner of the dance company, facing many scandals and accusations as well as various health issues including cancer.
5 years later the former Dance Moms came together to produce a Dance Moms reunion, without Abby.
Unfortunately, some of the girls on the team did not agree to participate. Maddie Ziegler, Mackenzie Ziegler, and Nia Sioux did not attend. Sioux said: “Um, the reason is quite simple. I just didn’t want to do it.”
On the other hand, viewers got to take a closer look at some of the main questions had after years of no answers as well as new experiences and choices these dancers ambitiously discuss during this new season.
One of the dancers, Chloe Lukasiak, who recently graduated from Pepperdine University, came out with exciting news that she is opening a program called Elevé Dance, a competition that values kindness, learning, and growth.
Jojo Siwa, who was only on for later seasons, left Dance Moms to pursue her contract with Disney. She recently has gone through some changes to her brand and is planning on releasing an album this year.
Overall the girls felt more connected to each other than ever before and are finally making peace with their pasts.
