This past week, the AP Environmental Science and Geology class (not pictured) went on an outdoor adventure to the Cincinnati Nature Center. The classes hiked approximately 3 miles on the Rowe Wood Trails, which is 1,022 acres and features 14 miles of hiking trails.
The first half of the day the trails were beautiful, and because of the April showers the smell was intoxicating. Unfortunately, the rain wasn’t in this group’s favor for long so they spent some time inside the nature center’s library. There, they watched a live feeding of two snakes, a smaller white corn snake and a bigger black rat snake enjoying their lunch. The snakes only eat every two weeks so the class was lucky to be there!
Afterwards, the class enjoyed their lunches and headed back out to the trails, and into the river beds, where they discussed the upcoming Envirothon happening this weekend!
Overall the trip was highly educational and unbelievably fun. APES can expect many more trips to the Cincinnati Nature Center in the years to come!
