Highlands blasts Bellevue

The Varsity Girls’ Basketball team took on the Bellevue Tigers around 6 o’clock last night at Newport Central Catholic (NCC). Right off the bat, Highlands took the lead and continued to keep it through all four quarters of the game. The Tigers were no match for the Birds and lost with a final score of 73-19.

Senior Chloe Janson recalls last night as being played very well.

“But, of course, we can continue to get better through practice. If we continued to do the things that we’ve worked on this year, then we can go far in region and state,” says Janson.

The team’s support of each other, especially last night, along with the roles they present on the court has allowed them to come this far.

Coached by Jaime Richey, Region 9, District 36, Ladybirds have a record of 27-4 and look to continue their streak, making it 28 in their Championship game this Friday at 7:00 at NCC. Their opponents are yet to be determined, as District games continue on tonight through tomorrow.
